The Forestry Commission of Ghana, in collaboration with the REDD+ SES Initiative and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), organized a capacity building workshop on REDD+ safeguards on 21-23 July 2015. A total of 23 participants from government and civil society attended the workshop that used a participatory methodology that combined the presentation and activities to familiarize participants with REDD+ safeguards. A field visit to Kakum National Forest to discuss with chiefs, park representatives and community members was organized to integrate in the discussions lessons learned from the implementation of conservation processes at the local level.
